Bill, do you know any serious collectors of Indian artifacts?  I just bought a redstone chanupa (Indian peace pipe, Sioux?) that pre-dates the coming of the white man (1500s). Might be worth a bunch of bucks. Not a grave item. Found on private property (a farm) near Lincoln Nebr, 1925. Bought it from kin of the finder. I have a receipt from relative. I see you live in Ks, close by.

Well Plates and bowls w/ painted fish is rather vague - lol Do they have a makers mark on the bases anywhere? That would be the starting point, if not, how old do they look? What type of pottery are they, or are they semi or full porcelain (china)? I always ask myself several questions about an object, before I decide if I should buy it. If you purchase a good book on anitques and collectibles and really study it, you will learn alot about many different subjects. I highly recommend the Schroeders book on antiques and collectibles - It doesn't have to be new either - Used will work just fine, you need to look up current prices for items anyway. Sounds like your off to a good start though! Happy Hunting!

Hi, Yes, if it is old, by all means pick it up - if the price is right of course! I would love to see pics to verify what it is exactly. On the Asian stuff - I don't do Asian. It is very difficult, and the fakes are so good that they fool experts. I can recommend an auction house here in Detroit that is quite good w/ Asian art - Dumochelles - You could send photos via email to them to verify what it is you have. I am scared of the stuff myself - LOL
Good luck and happy hunting!
