Did you know that hats for women began during the Middle Ages when the church decreed that their hair must be covered? The evolving of the hat since that time is truly intriguing! The Vintage Fashion Guild provides an very informative history of women's hats.

One of my favorite hats is the ‘cloche’ style of the 1920's. Brims were optional but were more predominant on summer hats, where the lady could be protected from the sun.

Susan Langley and John Dowling put together a great reference book in 1999 that has not been replaced with a newer version. It is Vintage Hats and Bonnets 1770-1970 Identification Value with photos and loads of information, which I'm offering on my website with a BONUS...

With the purchase of this book, I'm offering ten vintage hats from the 1930's-1960's absolutely FREE! They are in fair to good condition and were discovered in the barn in my grandmother's trunk this past September.
