Got a gimmick? Need more than that, must be a bargain to sell

The holiday season heralded new shopping trends that were once only seen at Antique Shows and Flea Markets.
The new deal is , what is the best deal.
Retailers offering huge discounts with free shipping and free shipping returns has caused vintage sellers to tighten the cinch on their budgets one more notch.
Retailers buy in bulk, and are able to pad prices to enable the huge discounts and free shipping.
And the vintage seller, the small business owner, is just not able to do that.
Vintage does not come in bulk.
Why buy vintage ?
Does anyone collect anymore ?
What is trending these days, now that Martha Steward does not cause a run to the antique malls or vintage on line sites to buy whatever was seen in her magazine or her TV shows?
After observing the net and the local antique malls in my tri state area, I have come to the conclusion that people want that good buy....that bargain.
And they want items they can use.
There are some collectors , but, in my opinion, most buyers of vintage want items they can use or wear.
The days of not refinishing vintage are gone.
Yes, the diehard antique dealers still flinch when a cabinet or chair is purchased to be repainted in the paint style to look old, but better....but, at least the item is sold, instead of sitting in the booth getting dusty.
Vintage, good vintage, is quality.
Well made, an item that has survived the years well, and can be reused today...and will be bought, if bargain priced.
Can the small business owner that sells vintage continue to slash prices to get the merchandise moving ?
Only time will tell.
I'm Linda Caricofe
I sell vintage.
I now have my own web page, designed at a bargain price on Weebly, to help cut my expenses.
Because I do not sell on a site such as ebay or Ruby Lane , I am able to sell my items at a better price than before AND offer free USA shipping.
Eventually, my RC Antiques on line shop will have a 200 to 500 items inventory, without worry of an inventory fee at the end of each month.
So, come on over and have a look, and bookmark my shop page too, as I continue to add inventory to my shop.
This vintage shop owner will survive, not because I have to, but, because I want to.
I still collect, so, to collect, I sell items from my collections to fund my collecting passion.
Thank you for reading my article, till next time,
happy treasure hunting,
best wishes, Linda
