SHOW ME YOUR TEETH

I love face jugs..especially the ones with teeth.  I own several and am always on the hunt for more.  They tend to be quite expensive, so it is a quest for a deal..of course.

One theory is that these jugs were used as grave markers.  The face would be so ugly that it would scare off the devil and your soul would be kept…

HAPPY HAPPY SIGN

Just thought I would share an experience I had this past weekend. Like most weekends, I am up early and off to estate sales looking for that hidden treasure.

This particular day I happened to be treasure hunting in a city I had never visited and was attending a sale conducted by an  unfamiliar company.

The first thing to greet me was a sign on the door.  A big…

TO PAINT OR NOT TO PAINT

Today everyone is loving painted furniture.  Do It Yourselfer's are chalk painting themselves into color heaven.

I have seen perfectly wonderful antique pieces turned into coats of of many colors. I am not saying I don't like this trend..I actually do, with some reservations.  I like pieces which have seen "better days" being given a new lease on life. I find the creativity fascinating and inspirational.  I have painted damaged and rejected tables, chairs, shelves and beds for…

DOES AN "ANTIQUER"" EVER QUIT OR IS THERE A REHAB FOR CRAVING RUST?

The answer is an unequivocal..NOPE they do not. I have tried. No workie. Is there a rehab for junkers?  I doubt it, if there were we would be lifting up every plate and checking out its' underside. We would be sneaking into closets, fumbling for quilts, linens and vintage anything.

If we were put on work detail, we would be fondling every hammer and smelling the…

NEVER TOO OLD TO HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

Did you ever find an old cast away doll at a garage sale, flea market or estate sale and think, "umm I feel like that sometimes",? I have and of course, I buy the little orphan and bring her to my playhouse.  I have fun fixing her hair, finding new clothes for her freshly washed body and making a new friend.

I enjoy remembering my childhood play days.  Running home…

RE-PURPOSING BY ANY OTHER NAME WOULD STILL BE ME

Hey there:

Just wanted to weigh in on the newest trend.  I hear the phrase: "I have re-purposed" quite often at antique shows, malls and flea markets. I bet you have too.

Well, new friends, I have to tell you that I am finally in with the "in crowd"! Painting the beat up treasures I have drug home, gluing or nailing weird things together to suit my fancy and keeping things rusty is what I have done for,  umm (not gonna say how many) years. Diving into ally dumpsters, picking…
