Miniature Gold Flute in Black Box w)Red Velvet Bed

Looks like a pen, but it's not. Just a replica. 6 inches long. No moving parts, except mouth piece comes off.
I will be getting some pictures up soon.
I'm new and mostly trying to learn about value. Any ideas?

Growing up "Antique" ...Egads! Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

Easters from my childhood were magical... Frilly dresses, brand new white patent leather shoes, Easter egg hunts at church, coloring eggs with Mom and Dad and the virtual cornucopia of treats encased in our colorful baskets.

My mom always saw to it that our Easter outfits were very special. I think she dressed me up more at Easter than at any other holiday because she was tired of the dark dungarees, corduroys and sweaters of our Michigan winter. I think, too, that this was her way… Continue

Hallmark Image log

Hi. I would like to discuss the benefits of having a hallmark image help center on iantiqueonline.

This tool would be a "for all" groups help center where visual images of hallmarks from items brought to iantiqueonline would be logged.

The image of the hallmarks and support data would serve as a quick guide to future user of iantiqueonline user.

This body of images would grow on a daily basis and would be a very valuable resource in the future for all.

What… Continue

$5 Deal of the Day

I wasn't even going to go to any garage sales today. I have work to do here at the house, and the weather was crappy this morning. But...it's Saturday, and there's ritual and habits to consider...so I told myself I would go for just a little bit. Maybe hit a couple of places and call it good. I checked Craigslist...church sale two neighborhoods away. Good. That's close to my favorite thrift store. I can kill two birds with one stone. I tell my husband I have my cell, and not to worry, I won't… Continue

Identifying Antique Haviland Limoges Patterns - I -

There is nothing quite like Antique Haviland Limoges China with its delicate nature and charming floral patterns. There are hundreds of patterns most with many variations of color or blank which makes identifying the pattern quite difficult.

Often times the patterns are so similar and on the same blank they appear to be the same. Look closely at the two cups and saucers… Continue

A collection of cookbooks feeds the soul

When the holidays roll around, and it’s time to start digging out all my favorite family recipes, I am always surprised to discover all the cookbooks I have gathered through the years.

What started as a way for me to learn some much-needed kitchen skills boiled down to a collection I didn’t even know I had.

I am pretty sure it started when my husband’s aunt loaned me her “Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book.”

The well-worn pages and side… Continue

Patti Bros., Route 20, Sudbury, MA - Gave me the wrong bulbs for my lamp and refused to fix the lamp

I ordered light bulbs for a lamp. I was given a box of bulbs and tried to put them in my lamp. The bulbs did not work. When I took them back the said they gave me the wrong box. I then put the right bulbs in the lamp it would not work. I took the lamp to the store and was told that they could not fix my lamp, and refused to look at. They gave me the wrong bulbs that destroyed my lamp and would not even try to fix my lamp. Patti Bros. refused to take responsibility for their… Continue

'Going Green' With Estate Sales...

I'm finding myself wanting to expand on comments I'm leaving on friends' blogs today!

I find that there are more people attending estate sales, and the line ups are horrendous!!! More people are watching their money, so it isn't just antique 'pickers' like myself who are attending. More people are furnishing their homes with vintage.

Due to the economy, I think more people are 'going green' without realizing it. For example, I've seen a young couple looking for furniture for their… Continue

A peek into what makes me tick....

Well, I have added some photos of the things I love most...my beloved lamps. :) As you may have noticed, I collect mostly antique oil/kerosene lamps from the late 1800's early 1900's. I enjoy almost anything and everything from that era. I truly enjoy uranium glass too...as you may notice from the pictures there is quite a bit around my home. My husband enjoys this hobby with me and we collect together. At present, I am looking for another Imperial Zipper Loop Carnival glass lamp so if anyone… Continue

Vintage Lucite Forbidden Fruit Apple Brooch pin and Earring set

I have up for eBay bidding this Vintage Lucite Forbidden Fruit Apple Brooch pin and Earring set. It is very noticeable and sparkling with fuchsia rhinestones and has fragments of green enamel on the stems and leaves. The earring clips and the pin on the back of the brooch still work very well. There is some wear or tarnish on the metal. This set has amazing sparkle and twinkling glitz. This piece is unsigned. You are certain to get many… Continue

NOT SOLD at Online Auctions: Why Not?

Hello again, IAO'lers,

It's Spring time again and the cleaning urge strikes us. Time to clean the house, the yard, the office, and, yes--the website.

Are our featured prices in keeping with today's market? What used to sell for much more is suddenly selling for much less. How do we know if we should lower prices and by how much?

A little market research won't hurt. There's no better place to do it than on the Net where prices are posted for the world to… Continue

Ebay Closes in on their monopoly

“Cash, checks, and other non-secure methods aren't allowed for most eBay purchases, with a few exceptions.”

This is a direct quote from eBay’s payment policies. Their concern, so they say, is that too many buyers have been cheated by unscrupulous sellers. This may be so, but we think there is another reason behind this. Since eBay owns PayPal we suspect they might be driving sellers and buyers to use that form of payment so they can earn more fees.

“The fastest… Continue
