SECRET:  I live out West and much of the area is sage brush. When driving along the back roads I watch the horizon on either side of my car.  Sage brush is usually the same heigth and follows the terrain of the land. If the land drops into a gully the sagebrush likewise follows.  Occasionally the sagebrush will rise up above the normal level of the terrain.  STOP THE CAR and investigate. People used to dump their trash along country roads and the sage brush is showing you where! Lots of old toys, bottles, coins, etc. were tossed out.

Hi, me again. I just recently got another comment on the pitcher and she seems to know quite a bit about pottery and as I thought it is quite old. So will let you know what she thinks after I send her some more pics.

Allan just noticed while looking at the Fort Montgomery Historical site. The Britains were attacking along the Hudson river. Relating to the Elwell meat cleavor the other gentleman found from Elwell's Great Britain company. So it could have been left from a family from Britain. It's all fascinating lol. Will keep digging, so to speak.

Allan, we do want to sell it but my husband is very cautious. We have seen the looks on people's faces when they see the piece. He has held onto it for 45 years. We have shown it to many dealers in Iowa, where we use to live. In Houston when we were visiting my sister and here in Arkansas. Lots tell us we should take it to New York, where he found it. We left the big city in Iowa and moved here to a small community to retire someday. The cost of living here is so much less than Iowa, New York and Houston. What we didn't realize is it is a very poor community. We want to sell the vase for enough money to open a thrift-like consignment store to help our community. My husband has a minimum wage job and I can't seem to find a job here right now. So we would both have an income and be helping our community. I am even having a raffle event on Facebook right now to raise money to open the store. Selling raffle tickets for some of my jewelry my kids gave me awhile back. We are both in our 50's and are very serious about all this. I can take more pics and send them to you of different angles etc. As I said, I have researched the name and pottery for 5 years, we have been married 6 years. I have an email from the director of the museum in New York stating it is probably from the 1800's. I have documentation of 2 Elwell families living in New York near where he found it in the late 1700's, early 1800's. Both fought in the revolutionary war. We have no idea what it is worth but .....I'm just going to throw this at you.... we would need between $5000 and $10,000 to open the store. I know this sounds like alot but my husband is still worried it might be worth more. A dealer in Houston said it was possible it could be worth so much more. I will take some more pics today and send them to you if you send me your email address. Send to rwood1@live.com. Thanks for your time and consideration. :)
