What Is A Photo Icon or Avatar?

A photo icon is the picture  or image that represents you on all pages of our site. Every time you make a post, your picture identifies you. Because this is a site about antiques, collectibles and art, we ask that you try to use images that are respectful,  attractive. Although we do not require you to have a photo icon we  encourage you do do so. And consider the opportunity to use yur photo to help promote your collecting interests or store.

Rules About Photo Icons

Remember your photo icon shows up on the front page. We want our community to be represented in a tasteful manner.

We ask that you do not post personal photos, especially of children, babies and families.We monitor the photos images used on our site  carefully. Photos that are seductive, offensive, morbid, peculiar, unprofessional, unrelated to antiques, collectibles, art i.e. shoe company are not permitted.Also you may not use a photo which is a conflict of interest to our site.You can always update your photo if a new idea occurs to you, but it is best to be consistent on the site as other members will begin to identify you by your photo icon.

 

How To Post Photos In The Photo Section On The Main Page?

Go to the top of your page.

Click the "Photo" tab or button

When the page opens up,  click "+ Add" button on the far upper right  corner.

When the page opens you will be asked to click on the camera to upload photos.

OR

Go to your "My Page" and look for the section that reads

Blog Posts

Discussions

Events

Groups

Photos

Photo Albums

Videos

Click on "Photo" , the page opens up and the "+ Add" button is in the upper right

corner.

How Are Photos Featured On The Main Page In The Slide Show ?

When you upload photos they become part of our data base of photos and will show up in the general photo section. When the editor reviews all photos, the   outstanding photos can be selected to be "featured". When they are "featured" they become part of the slide show .

Photo are featured for a limited amount of time as new photos are always being added to the photos section.

 

How Does The Editor Select The Photos Featured On The Main Page Slide Show ?

 

The Editor reviews all posted photos and selects from the most recent photos added first selecting from the archived photos.

Photos are selected from the following characteristics:

good quality photo

close up shot

clear and easy to see what the object is

not too busy with too many items

related to antique, collectible, art

attractive photo styling

good lighting  

unusual item

popular  collectible

rare item

 

Photos Avoided

 

No print overlay on photo

No dates on photos

No numbers on photos

No advertisements of photo

No titles on photo

No bric a brac


How Can I Find Photos By Category Or Topic?

Click  on the "Find Antiques"  tab or button at the top of your page.

 

How Do I Tag Photos?

Read about "tagging"  (see blog section)

More about photos:

After you upload a photo a screen will open that will ask you to add a title, description and tags. Be sure to fill in the tags and always click on the save button.

Tips

When you upload photos and fill in the title you may want to include the name of your online store or shop in the title as well.

 

How To Add Photos In A Main Forum Discussion?

After you have clicked on "Add Discussion" a page will open up and you will see a tool bar under the Discussion title space.

Click  on the rectangle box next to the first tab (link). That is the photo button.

When  the page opens you will click on "Browse" to upload photos from your files.

 

 

 

How To Add Photos In A Group Forum Discussion?

After you have clicked on "+start Discussion" a page will open up. Look for the toolbar  under the Discussion Title space. 

Click  on the rectangle box next to the first tab (link). That is the photo button.

When  the page opens you will click on "Browse" to upload photos from your file.

How To Add Photos On The Comment Wall Of A Group?

 

On the comment wall look for the toolbar at the top of the comment wall space.

Click  on the rectangle box next to the first tab (link). That is the photo button.

When  the page opens you will click on "Browse" to upload photos from your files.

 

 

How To Add Photos In The Blog Section of The Main Page?

After you have clicked on "Add Blog Post", the page will open.

Click  on the rectangle box next to the first tab (link). That is the photo button.

When  the page opens you will click on "Browse" to upload photos from your files.

 

How To Add A Photo From A Photo Hosting Site

You can use photos from photos hosting sites such as Photobucket.com  by copying  the HTML code  the photo and adding to  to your post.

 

How Do I Delete A Photo?

 

Go to your "My Page"

Scroll down to section that says "Photos"  (not manage photo)

Click On "Photos"

When the page opens click on the photo you want to delete.

In the upeer right corner  you will see "Options"

Click On "options"

A Menu will open

Click on "X Delete Photo"

 

How Do I Add A Video?

 

At the top of the Main Page click on the Video  tab or button.

When in the Video section click on +Add Video

A page will open asking you to click  on the center  button to upload videos.
