On The Main Page How Is The Blog Section Different Than The Forum Section?
Blog Section
Please use the Blog Posts section to post articles, commentaries, opinions, trends, experiences related to antiques, collectibles and art or to share something you found in a newspaper, another blog, site etc. If what you are sharing has been written by someone else, please just use the first few paragraphs and then link the rest of the article or blog to the original site you found the article.
How To Post A New Blog
Click on the "blog tab" at the top of the main page or click on the "+Add Blog Post" tab at the very bottom of the blog section (lower right column of the main page.
When you click on either tab, you will open up the page to "Add A Blog Post". You will see a large blank box or space with the word "entry": Add your blog post.
Add your "tags" (see below) and remember to click on the button "Publish Post".
You also have an option to "Preview" your post before it goes live (Preview button).
How To Tag Your Blog Posts (and photos)
Tags are very important to add to all your articles or blog posts so that search engines will pick up your posts on the internet.
Tips About Tags
Be specific i.e. "yellow Pyrex bowl" instead of Pyrex or Bowl or "vintage beverage glasses" instead of glasses .
When you use multiple words in a tag, use quotation marks to hold the words together i.e. "antique social network"
You do not have to use quotation marks for single words.
i.e. ephemera, ribbons, hats
Blog Approval
As a security measure, all blogs are reviewed by the editor before they can go live.
When Blog Posts Are Not Original (another person's writing)
Blog posts that are not original but are excerpts from another person's writing are subject to copyright laws. Always add the link to the original article and offer a few paragraphs from the original article or news item. Generally excerpts from articles are allowed, but be sure to include the source and link.
Featuring A Blog
Blogs which are of general interest to the community as a whole are featured amd will appear on the Main Page. Generally the editor chooses blogs to feature which are current news articles, relevant excerpts from an outside blog, original articles by members, commentary on relevant subjects by members.
Blog posts which discuss a member's business or announce sales or promotions are generally not featured on the Main Page but will still appear in the blog section as well as on the member's "My Page". To see all blogs, click on the "Blog" tab at the top of your page.
How Are Blogs Categorized?
When you click on the Blog tab you will see blogs organized in the following categories: "Featured Blog Posts", "Most Popular Blog Posts", "Blog Topics By Tags", "Monthly Archives".
The Editors Blog
The Editor's blog appears on the Main page in the upper right hand column. This is an RSS feed. You can add your outside personal blog to your "My Page".
