Kenneth Jay Lane, jewelry designer extra-ordinaire, dead 7/20/2017, 85:

The fashion jewelry world has lost one of its premier icons: Kenneth Lane, KJL, or affectionally our Kenny, who made fashion jewelry a/k/a costume jewelry not only acceptable in toney circles but outrageously fashionable among the rich famous. He, and only he, has put American fashion jewelry design first on the international map. Google him today and read especially the NY Times coverage of his long and colorful career.

Personally I experienced several brushes with KJL over the years, the first in 1971 when he came with his in-store trunk show to The Blum Store in Philadelphia where I was the jewelry buyer. Later we touched base again in New York City at various events, including the Goossens preview party for the Christie's auction of Chanel jewels. Kenny was a guest, here's my photo of him with a Goossens model:

Kenneth Lane at Goossens Chanel at Christie's Preview Party

and here are a couple of my earlier buzzes about  KJL archived on the Wayback Machine, an Internet archive:

Jewelry Designer's Gem of An Insult (and to think Harrice was so nice about it)

No Kidding--Buzz: KJL and Christie's Party; Update

and of course a priceless screenshot of Kenny selling his own jewelry designs on QVC, as I watched it on TV:

Kenneth Lane Live on QVC

Kenny may have been the greatest Faker of Jewelry of all time but to everyone who was fortunate to meet him he was a most genuine original.

R.I.P. Kenny, we miss you.

Re Tom's comment about 12,000 referring to Euros. Was the Euro around before 1993 when the company went out of business? I don't think so. And the exchange would never have been twelve dollars to 12000 euros. The Euro was at one time one and half times the U.S. dollar.
OTH, the so called "old franc" was around until 1960 approx. Even when I lived in France (1961+) and worked briefly in a bank in Paris, the Nouveau Franc was still a novelty to the French people. They kept counting in "old francs" for years thereafter. When the Nouveau Franc became the new official currency the old franc was out. 1 Nouveau Franc (NF) = 100 French (ancients) Francs (FF). I.e., 12,000 Old Francs would equal 120,00 Nouveau Francs, without any centimes (.00). Just put the decimal delineator two digits to the left from right to translate old francs to new. I doubt, however, that these cuff links ever commanded as much so I believe that the 12,000 may refer to something else, not a currency necessarily.

The Miami Beach Jewelery & Antiques Show will run at the Deauville Beach Resort from February 2-5, 2017, taking a slot one week before the Original Miami Beach Antique Show.

The new show, expected to host more than 120 international dealers, is added to a calendar of seven other fairs organised by The Palm Beach Show Group. They include the New York Art, Antique and Jewelry Show, which will run this year from November 9-13 at Pier 94, and the flagship show at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on February 15-21.

US Antique Shows, organisers of the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, have announced that the event will relocate to a new venue and a later slot in 2017.

Next year’s move to the Miami-Dade County Fair Expo Center follows the impending closure of the Miami Beach Convention Center for a $600m renovation. The show’s dates will be February 10-13.

Round pierced metal thing is lid for potpurri jar/vase, probably pewter.

Looking closer I can see something on back that could be a pin for a brooch. But w/o a pic of the back I can't be sure.
