Someone told me this was a pine needle basket. I tried to find it on eBay, but none were exactly like this. It's 7 inches on a side. Does his have a pattern name? Any idea of age? Any value to it?

i think it is a sweet grass basket

I have a Ponderosa pine needle basket made in the mid-western USA from pine needles. The maker puts 6 to 8 long pine needles side-by-side and ties them together, and then ties each bundle together making a rope which is then coiled to form the basket, tying each coil to the next. The round things are window shade pulls and they are knitted in place. I believe these baskets are still being made so it's  hard to date them. The pine needles can see seen on the bottom of your picture. My basket has a large and a small red tomato pin cushion knitted into it. Hard to value yours or mine.  lots of man hours go into making it, my guess at value is $100. USD or more.

That's a nifty basket, Tom. Thanks for your input.
