Obtained this at an estate sale and have no idea what it is. About 6’’ long cant really make out the written mark on top of mfg. any help in identifying and dating would be much appreciated.   Thanks John

I've used them in past

I was a Yeoman in the Navy. Service records used this system. Awards, schools, Orders, Transfers, medical, financial/disbursements, achievements, legal, etc. were placed in individual records and maintained for the duration of the enlistee or officer. If you were a member of the crew when the ship was launched you received a "Plank Holders certificate". Crossing the Equator gained another certificate.

These punches are still being made and used. New, they retail for around $12. to $15.00.  I see that yours says to "OIL OCCASIONALLY" but I never did. Oil can ruin type-written documents.
