I would love for this group to get active. I love vintage bakelite but am at a loss as to how to price it. You see people on eBay offering it for a pittance and then some of the independent websites are pricing it like fine diamonds. I have Leigh Leshner's Colltectin Art Plastic Jewelry but it is a 2005 edition.

I don't know how you source the rarity of an item that is mid-century or earlier made of celluloid or bakelite. Other than testing for bakelite, testing the other plastics is very vague. I have yet to find the Simichrome polish Leshner talks about. I've asked and asked and no one I come across has ever heard of it. You can seem my pieces currently for sale at www.thelivesandlovesofmaggiethecat.ecrater.com

I love vintage bakelite. I was lucky to find a special hindge bracelet at a local auction here in Maine, a few years ago. I am always on the look out for bakelite. Seldom find nice pieces anymore, we've been in business for 32 years, hoping for another 32 to find great treasures.. candi
