Collecting Vintage Sheet Music Captures Important American History

Pure Americana and defining the turn of the century, popular music in America from the 1890-1920 captured the spirit of America and its widening cultural influence. The music of the era is as interesting as the handcrafted oftentimes idiosyncratic sheet music on which it was captured. Whether musically inclined or not, these music "sheets" deliver a visual representation of what was truly a grand era in American musical legacy starting in the mid to late 1800s to the First World War. From the distinctive clang of player pianos in parlor songs of yesteryear, to the melodies and words from popular songs of those days, the musical style and artwork of the period remain distinctive, admired, and intensely familiar.
