I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

I bought this lovely piece online and my first thought was that it was so beautiful it should be in a museum lol. I am looking for information on Maker/Age/Value and can't seem to find anything. I think the image on the vase is of Venus and her son cupid and perhaps another son? The maker mark is "F C W" and 1188. It's made of red clay. Thanks

Hmmm!  This is just my guess.

With the hole in the bottom and a part # it seems to me to be the decorative piece to a neo classical lamp base.  It may have had a brass foot and cap and the rest of the lamp parts are missing.  That style was quite popular in the 50's.  Google neo classical urn lamps and you will see what I mean.

Thanks for the reply. I actually found out it's Ferdinand Gerbing from the period of about 1850-1861.
