The golden era of carnival glass was from about 1905 to the mid-1920's. The iridescent luster on this patterned pressed glass is achieved by spraying the hot surface with metallic salt solutions. Alot of pieces were produced and sold in the major stores of the time like Woolworth. Carnival glass was created to rival the iridescent glass of the time which would be Tiffany. Fancy glass for the common man. The most common color is known as Marigold. Not all pieces were made in all colors.
This is just such a beautiful captive rose pattern with great amethyst color! The Captive Rose design which looks like a flower within a flower. It is very pretty and would make a great gift to anyone who collects Fenton. I just love the gold carnival which provides a nice rich color. The rim of the bowl is known as 3 in 1 and since it is hand shaped not each curve is exactly the same. So this makes it unique! Perfect for your sideboard!
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. Color is much richer in person. Dimensions are below.
H: 2 1/2", Base: 3 1/8" , Rim: 8"
Sales price $135 which includes free shipping to USA.
