A Few Photography Tips From Retro Pottery Net
I get a lot of emails from readers of this blog, and my eBay and Etsy stores asking about my photographs - the how, what, & equipment etc. I am an amateur photographer with a very basic knowledge, and I learn as I go really, but here are a few tips from my experience:
I think the most important thing is natural light and a lot of it (unless you have a full professional lighting set up!) . Most photos on this blog have been photographed next to a large window - which on most days except the cloudiest, gets good and indirect natural light. Direct sunlight is usually way too strong, and provides too much contrast - although sometimes I use it to really show up a complex pattern etc. The only time I use full sunlight regularly is with clear glassware - it just seems to work.
