Welcome to Sandysfancy, our newest member of Japanese Antique Collectors! She has lacquerware that she needs help in identifying, so if anybody can help please do so after she posts photos!

Not very visable, not viable! I hate typos! How did that get there? LOL

Hi Nancy, Swims here again! Just asked my wife to try and read the signature on back of flower pin & she is unable to read it entirely as the top characters are not very viable. However, she did say it is Japanese and the bottom kanji is (Mi) or beautiful in Japanese! It appears to be a ladies first name & was probably signed by artist when purchased. She told me the flower type is a Hokaido flower, or flower from the northern island of Japan. Hope this helps! Cheers! Swims

Hi Nancy! We are pals now as I just approved your request. I have been somewhat busy today with my job & just had time to check in here! The wall hangings are neat & I had one like the right side one a couple years ago, but sold it. It was made entirely with bird feathers, made to look like tree branches leaves & the birds of course. Are yours made of feathers too?

The flower vase appears to be copper with silver rim & design is incised onto the surface! These are neat I think, but value is subjective and depends on the buyer! Check out FeePay for other similar types to see what they are selling for so you can price it accordingly.

The brooch I will show to my wife later tonight or tomorrow for signature reading, as she has stepped out for the evening with her friend. I have another class to teach soon and also must go.

The cups & saucers look neat & again I have no idea how much they are worth. The Made in Japan mark was required after the first of the 20th Century I believe, so dating could be hard to do unless one is familiar with that maker & has some reference materials. Occupied Japan is easy since that is after WWII and only appeared on items for a few years! There are those that do collect just these items, so again value is selective depending on buyer/collector of these items!

I will be back to you again when I get the signature deciphered, OK. Later Alligators!

Cheers! Greg(Swims)

Hi All! Nice items, Nancy...
Swims, here's the signature on the back of the big brooch...hopefully your wife will have some insight.

The storms that were in Oklahoma yesterday are in our backyard today. Hopefully I'll have power when this is thru!

Best to you,
Terri

Got it! OK, to post photos on this site you need to use the 3rd code down under photo, the HTML Code. Just copy & paste it in and you are good to go! Hope to see your photos of the cups & etc Nancy when you have time. I am not real knowledgeable on Occupied Japan items & could`nt tell you the values, but I believe there are good books out there that can give you an idea of aprox. values of similar items. Check out Barnes & Noble or go online w/Amazon to check! Cheers! Swims
P.S. Thanks to Padiopal for the roving kitty! I stole it from her! LOL

Hi Nancy & Welcome to the group! You need to upload any photos you have to Photobucket or other photo hosting site first & then you can paste the codes here on the thread! I have not done any photos recently & forgot which code to use for Photobucket, as they have four codes & different sites take different codes. Let me do a test here now & see if I remembered correctly. If you see a photo in this post then I did it right & I will send another post to tell you which code to use! Cheers! Swims
