Meet Your Moderators Dianne and Scott

What is more fun than traveling around the country antiquing. It's great to spend "quality" time with IAO members online, but it is even better....meeting friends of the site in person. This group will be a place to share your antiquing road trips and the photos you bring back of people, places and events of interest to members.

We especially hope that you will tell everyone about Iantiqueonline.com and bring along our newly printed promo pads. (To receive free promo pads see post below in "Discussion Forum"). .

My husband and I have been out and about for the last month already and think we'll be out another month or so. Right now we're in a hotel at Lake Okoboji, IA, a favorite for us. Lots of antiques here! We're headed to Minnesota, South Dakota, and then ? We had a great time going through Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, some of Illinois - we stayed off the beaten path and hit some small sales and shops - talked to some interesting characters. We've been back by the house and the storage units and dropped off goodies and furniture, grabbed the mail and jumped back into the car! I've been shopping everything from antiques malls to yard sales to thrift stores. When I have a proper computer and some sit-down time I'll post pictures. Too hard to do from this little laptop. I think I wrote here somewhere about the store that sells the Fiestaware factory seconds. Granted, I had to inspect each piece carefully, but it was worth it! And the glassware I've picked up along with the odd furniture pieces and of course some electrical gadgets and paper goods. You just never know what you'll find out on the road.
Internet service has been spotty, so I'm not able to keep up with everyone. But all too soon we'll be home again, so I'm enjoying it now.

I trip every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I always end up at McDonald's for an egg mc muffin and a cup of coffee. I then head home and take a nap...I did pretty good this weekend; got 4 pcs of elegant depression glass, serving pcs, for $15. and 2 Heisey Custards for 50 cents. I bought a bunch of Wade-England, Rose Tea animals for too much, but oh well I collect them. At one sale a lady surprised me with, "I knew you'd be coming so I saved a piece of carnival glass for you". Unfortunately it was repro, not worth the $15. she had on it. I suggested $5, and she put it on the table. It was still there when I left. She said she had another sale coming up soon with lots of depression and carnival glass and asked me for my business card, which I gladly gave her.

This last weekend July 4th, I was taking the weekend off and went up to the cabin up in Irons, Michigan. left early on saturday morning to drive the 2 1/2 hour drive up did not want to get there before the rest of the camp was awake(late sleepers) so we drove over to Ludington and was just a junkin and seen they had a flea market at the fairgrounds so I stopped basically to stretch my legs, so while walking around I bought a Sunol bike emblem made by the McIntosh & Huntington co of Cleveland Ohio (circa 1892-96) and a ring of good furniture barrel keys, a colored aluminum ice tea pitcher & glass set, a nice West German cookie tin, and a few more little things, nothing to sell for to by the next farm but stuff I think I can make a buck on. I also did some yard saleing did not buy to much, but met some great people.
Then went on over to the cabin, and my plan was to cane the back on a lincoln rocker and teach my better half how to cane, well I got the rocker 2/3s done and she has her chair seat about the same, seen some great fireworks up on big Bass Lake on the 4th enjoyed the wonderful weather and came home on the 5th and back to the shop. so my vacation for the year is over

$150

It was great to meet Diane and Scott at Brimfield! The show was so active this year that I plan to go back this Friday. I saw very little evidence of a recession here.

The show was VERY buys, here's a link to an article I did on opening day.

http://www.examiner.com/x-312-Auctions-and-Antiques-Examiner~y2009m...

I also did a quick overview of it on The AuctionWally Show in ep 63, to hear that go to:
http://theauctionwallyshow.blogspot.com

The best part about the show for me was listening to Diane and Scott's ambitious strategy and goals for IOA!

Oh yeah, one more thing, I did a photo gallery price report, you can find it in my group, "Hammer Prices" at http://iantiqueonline.ning.com/group/auctionwallyshammerprices

I hope you'll take a look and consider joining that group because, I'll have more photo gallery price reports on the Brimfield Show and other events.
