Old Enameld Earrings - These are Bugging Me!

Reaching out again here .. for any opinion regarding these old earrings. I think they are middle eastern .. perhaps oriental .. but the clue may be in whatever the object is or the flowers are. So far my searching hasn't nailed anything down.

Is this a "beetle" maybe? Or a seed pod?

I have been staring at these, searching, coming back and staring at them some more...I cannot figure it out.  Maybe a picture of the backs?  Anything to allow me to see something new to focus on?  With the extra holes, I wonder if they looked different "in the beginning".  I will do my best to help. :)

Yes, the extra holes are curious, and afraid we shall never know.   I did just grab a photo flipped over .. no joy there .. but will upload it regardless.   The whatever at the bottom is same both sides.  I have this feeling ... well like it reminds me of 'scarabs' .. though isn't like one I have seen.  But somewhere in my way back memory are seeds or beetles . something with this distinct crossed 'rope' and buttoned up look.  Cannot manage to pull it together enough o affect a search .. 

Oh well .. fun .. I will take them down and acid test again .. so long ago I checked cannot remember right now.  Think there is little to no silver in them .. but they do brighten a bit with a wee stroke of the selvyt.

Paula, I'd have to agree, but sadly these old earrings have given them up!  I was hoping I could find something close to see what may have been .. but no joy!  Soon off to eBay .. most of these old items I am liquidating from an estate are now spread around the world in new jewlery boxes!   Zeke

The colours almost remind me of this creature (https://travel.mongabay.com/madagascar/images/madagascar_1078.html) but whatever these earrings are based off, they are lovely!
