Help With The Designer or Maker - CARR

Once again, though I have looked some, I cannot feel comfortable that I really know what CARR made this item.  The professional appraiser called the material JET.   If you know or have a good guess, I thank you .. Zeke

You mean other than "L" Carr? how carr's are there?

Thank you.   Now, as I am not really into this genre all I can say is the CARR stuff I found, nothing remotely close to this.     Perhaps more looking will help.   This is, I believe, Circa 1960, maybe late.   Does that fit with L Carr.   Will see if I can find out.   Z

"Jet" I think, is incorrect. I think what your looking for is "Gutta Percha" It is an uncommon, Victorian element made from coal, used often in "Mourning Jewelry" in the Victorian Era Period of Jewelry - Remember the link I shared with you on the Turkish  piece. That will have any additional info you may want to include when or if your listing it. "jet" can be made from Coal, like Gutta Percha is as well, but that term is confusing, because many dealers use "Jet" to describe black glass as well. Just an fyi. 

I'm not familiar with CARR off the top of my head, but it looks to be affiliated with Sheffield, or made in Sheffield England at any rate, and may have been a mini picture frame in it's first life? The image appears to be hand painted, which bodes well for dating to the Victorian era too, sort-of in line with "Cameos" which were terribly popular in that time, as well as Ancient art/Antiquities too!

Indeed, but the above example of "Madonna and Child"  Are not Gutta percha, and likely not Victorian era. This example might be porcelain, with china paint,  Could be much later, age wise. To bad this CARR maker/mark is difficult to nail down.
