"14k is the purity of the gold paint known as vermeil, not the metal.There is no melt value in it. The hole you show is where the eyelet was attached. The eyelet was for the chain."

"Thanks Tom.  That is lint and I should have seen it in the photo.  Sorry.  There is however a small hole maybe for the attachment of a chain.  Please see new photo 7361. I'd like it to be 14k but I see no marks."

"Question, on the right end in your pic #7341 is a thread or wire sticking out. There should be an eye-let for a necklace. The peanut is, or was a pendant. Pictures of it on line show 2 pearls (simulated I imagine) inside. Yours is said to be 14k…"

Peanut Shell Pill Holder

Anyone have any ideas on this item.  Belonged to family but can't say when acquired or how old.  It has a fairly stiff spring and seems pretty well made.  No marks can be noted.  Weighs 1.1 oz. See More

I've been interested in both buying and selling antiques and collectibles of all types for several years. I have an excellent reputation with ebay but have been using other venues in place of them for over a year. I am always happy to learn and welcome all suggestions.

I hope when you get comfortable here you will take the time to post some photos of your collection(s), join as many groups as you like (click on Groups at the top of your page) , make some friends, customize your profile page (easy templates provided), write an article, make an announcement on our main forum (main page) or post in any of the specialty group forums. Be sure to visit Whadja Find (tell others what you found) and also visit the Antique Market Place.(where you can sell antiques, collectibles, art.

By the way....each group has its own forum and also a comment wall (like a bulletin board). Forums help keep the threads (topics) organized. You are always welcome to start a new forum in any group. The Main forum is for general announcements for the whole community.
