I Antique Online

A Community For People Who Buy, Sell or Collect Antiques, Collectibles and Art

This home was filled with vintage fabric wall to wall

each room looked so much like the first. all with bolts of fabric

the story goes.. That the woman who lived here made costumes for

a very well known theater in Seattle. she didnt just buy the material

she needed. she bought the entire bolt.

then in the attic. I ventured up to find box after box of trim all on cards.

nicely wrapped in plastic. all vintage. It was alot to take in yet

I couldnt think of anyplace in the world I would rather be at that moment.

around the corner upstairs. I saw many adjustable body dress forms. all in great shape

cast iron leg stands and all.. very nice...

then more boxes.. as I started to open some. i soon discovered that there were aprox

40 large boxes filled with vintage patterns. another 40 boxes filled with dolls.. and yet many

vintage round plastic zipper wig containers filled with pill box hats.. wow. what i amazing find

then it was time to venture downstairs again. and out to the garage.. where I discovered racks and racks of Costumes. all hanging nicely on racks. covered and protected.  and still more boxes of notions and trims. and yes totes of vintage patterns still.. Im so excited. I cant wait to go back. :)

well I finally got thru all the lace.. whew.. talk about sore wrist and fingers.

the material drys out your hands so much then rewinding it onto cardboard or cardstock also drys them more.. and you cant use lotion because it would stain the lace.. 2 1/2 days of unwinding lace and rewinding lace after measuring it. and pricing it. . sounds like a pain. but it actually wasnt.. it was time consuming. but being able to see the beautiful lace and feel how delicate it was in my hands.. knowing some of it was tatted. some was crochet done so much hand work. .. made my winding and measuring seem much smaller of a task. .. now today.. I will start on patterns. boxes and boxes  and boxes of vintage patterns.. .. stay tuned ...
