Spring is in the air
Tips for Springtime Decorating!
As song birds swoop in singing their melodious song to tell us it is spring….I can’t help but want to get our patio clean and fresh!! Now, in Texas spring is a very short season, but you know…why not enjoy it while you can!! I am so excited and have so much energy this time of year. I’ve been mixing it up and adding new layers of goodness. Why not add a new piece of furniture, include an outdoor lamp, new pieces of pottery & stoneware to plant in or serve a nice light snack? ...mix it up with random little treasures many available at my store Vintage Patina...I am over flowing with ideas!
A few springtime thoughts to freshen up your world and your outdoor space!!
New Pillows & cushions will revive an old chair or glider, they are a quick facelift!! Use your stash of vintage textiles to cover a table or drape several to create a temporary canopy or shade.
I also love the idea of lamps on a porch or any outdoor room. Don’t forget to use Candles and Hurricane Lanterns, why not add String Lights to your umbrella or arbor to create that special glow. Just be sure to choose lighting that is ok to use outdoors.
Consider a range of textures when decorating any outdoor patio or garden type room. Wicker & bamboo are of course lovely and exotic in any form….but consider throws, trays, galvanized buckets filled with cold drinks….even rugs!!
For the table bring out all your chippy vintage plates & serving pieces, those pieces you just can't bear to part with but are showing the scars of living and the patina of age. I love to mix colors and patterns, sizes and shapes. Why not create a beautiful tablescape that is as unique as you are? Toss convention to the wind, indulge yourself... there are no rules.
For privacy or simply a beautiful vibrant and living screen use antique metal fences or an old metal bed headboard to make a dramatic and interesting statement. To create privacy, plant and train trailing vines around the fences. Until the plants are established and growing well, plant fast growing annuals like morning glories and train them to grow around the posts.
