The brooch in definitely not a thing of the past, here at AC Silver we are determined to show you how to make the most of yours.
The most famous brooch wearer in Britain has got to be Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Yet again she did us proud on a recent visit to Ireland in 2011, where no day was complete without a new brooch. It seems that Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, is following in the Queen’s footsteps, gracefully wearing the Queen Mother’s precious shamrock brooch at this year’s St Patrick’s Day military engagement.
Brooches of Old
The brooch was originally a symbol of wealth for ladies, the bigger the brooch, the bigger the trust fund; often such brooches were worn to attract potential suitors. It may been seen as old fashioned, however there is much more to the brooch than just to adorn your coat lapel., What many women do not realise is the brooch is the most versatile piece of jewellery one could ever purchase.
A brooch is the perfect accessory to draw attention to your assets and this is just what celeb ladies have been doing this season. Whether to accessorise the collar of a high neck dress, or pinned into that glamorous up-do or on the back of that red carpet gown, our A- listers have been rocking their new brooch bling.
Everyday Fashion Chic
However, if like me, you have not received your invitation for next year’s Oscars here are a few quick and simple ideas I have put together; pin a brooch to your favourite hat, use a brooch a hold your favourite clutch bag shut, wear your brooch on a chain as a pendant and, finally my favourite, just under the bust line of your wedding dress.
In our Newcastle- based shop we currently have our very own shrine to the brooch. We have put together a few fashion scenarios in which the brooch is the perfect addition to your outfit. I personally love the idea of enhancing my little black court shoes with diamond buckles.
So, how will you wear your antique brooch?
