This past Saturday, at our annual New Year's day auction, we had the pleasure of offering a new way for our patrons to bid- LIVE online. Prior to the auction we were anxious to go through the whole process from adding lots to making the sale. There was no trial run, so Saturday was a great experience- running live and working out the kinks. The best part is no matter if you're at the auction, your local Starbucks, or sitting at home in your underwear you're now able to bid live on every item in our auctions!
Our first experience offering live online bidding went very smooth. There were over 150 registered online bidders for the auction plus an additional 175 registered bidders in attendance. We saw over 20,000 page views for the auction making us the #1 viewed auction in New England (via AuctionZip.com).
The auction featured a wide variety of items ranging from glassware to toys, furniture, paintings, collectibles, gold and silver jewelry, linens, and much more. Spirits were high. Prices were high. It was a well rounded fast paced sale.
Currently our live bidding is offered through AuctionZip Live and pushed to ArtFact. AuctionZip Live is a service provided by www.auctionzip.com and partnered with ArtFact.com, sites you may already be familiar with. It's very similar to LIVE Auctioneers and Proxibid live bidding services if you have experience with those.
AuctionZip Live has put a lot of thought into their software, as far as being efficient and intuitive for the buyer and the seller. Bidding is conducted through a single-click button to make things simple. The price is updated live and just as if you were sitting in the live audience the action is fast and if you blink an eye you could miss a lot. Keep your finger on the mouse when your lot comes up
For our next auction, February 5th 2011, we plan to offer live streaming video. A slideshow of our items was available for New Year's, but offering a live streaming video will make sure you are able to see EVERY item in the sale- even if it didn't get pictured in our online photo gallery prior to the auction. As well as offering streaming video the sale, plans for the future include expanding to other online bidding venues to offer more opportunities to more bidders.
To preview items for our upcoming sales, please take a moment to visit us at http://www.sacoriverauction.com/auctions - We update our listings and photo galleries daily as items come in all the way until the day of sale.
See you at the auction.
