We all know Longaberger is the source of high quality baskets. The “basket” story began in 1919, when J.W. Longaberger took a job with the Dresden Basket Factory in Dresden, Ohio and subsequently started his own company. Since then, their reign in basket collecting has been tops.
You may also know “Longaberger Homestead” has become a must-see destination for any fan of Longaberger. Located between Dresden and Frazeysburg, OH, the Homestead offers shopping, dining, an opportunity to weave your own Longaberger Basket and shop!
But did you know…their pottery line is now highly collectible as well?
“In 1990, The Longaberger Company extended its range of products to include pottery. Each piece is hand-finished to eliminate mold seams, giving the pottery a more finished and rounded-off look. Designs include a distinct ball and petal motif, and an embossed weave pattern.” Collectibles Buying Guide
My favorite, Woven Traditions Pottery line, is designed with basket weaves and the colorful pieces warm your heart right away.
“Earlier pieces, except the Heirloom Ivory range, were hand-painted with the four petal motif in one of three colors: Traditional Red, Classic Blue, or Heritage Green. Plates were embossed with the woven “L” logo.”
