Lazy Days of Summer Sellers Molasses

Well, it's that time of year again.
It's a double edged sword ...on one hand, I LOVE being outside again. Working in the yard, riding my bike, and well, just plain walking here and there..enjoying the fresh air.
But, as an on line seller, sometimes sales pour in as slow as molasses. I enjoy the customer contact, so, it's almost like the kids ( buyers ) are out playing…

My Salute To The Country Auctioneers

My Grandfather was an auctioneer. I never heard him call because he was gone from this Earth by the time I was 9 years old. I remember him well though, even his voice. He enjoyed talking, so, do I...so, I am sure he was a good auctioneer. In the old days, an auctioneer took care of business much different than today. Antique / Collectibles Shop Are You Doing Your Best

Selling antiques and collectibles on line is serious business with alot of fun and alot of friends mixed in. I think one of my favorite things about the Iantiqueonline site is being able to talk to the different sellers though groups etc. To share thoughts helps ease the tension of trying to present your shop well. Not being able to hand an item to a buyer to inspect means selling the item honestly, and accurately. And let's face it, sometimes, that just does not happen. When…

Collecting Patriotic Items For Your Home

I have always enjoyed looking at our American flag. My childhood home is above Fort Ritchie , which was once a camp for our servicemen. My husband is a retired Air Force Recruiter. Naturally, anything patriotic attracts us like a magnet. So, if you enjoy Patriotic items , but really do not know what to do with them, here are some suggestions. I have an old home with a foyer. The foyer is filled with items of Hagerstown ( where we live ), with Patriotic items mixed in. I installed a shelf above… Continue

Well Kept Secret of Old Time Antique Dealers

Years ago there was an antique dealer that lived in the little town of Funkstown, not far from where I live today. He was considered eccentric , because his little shop was filled with what looked like trash. There was a narrow path to get to the door , and once inside you maneuvered through a maze of piles of stuff to get to the counter. To the locals who were not in the antique business, he was eccentric. To antique dealers around here in that era, he was the one you went to for reference and… Continue
