These companies are charging for services that Auction Businesses and Estate Sale Companies alike have been providing to their older clients for years, bu… Continue

sue norris New breed in town??

Good evening everyone, We went to auction this week - what an odd day it turned out to be!!! First, we headed to the 'backroom' for the so-called 'junk' jewelry. Some very nice pieces - Trifari, Coro Duette etc. Several 'newbies' in the room........bidding went out of sight!! New people bidding tooo mucho dinero for items. Much too rich for our blood, so. somewhat disappointed/disgusted, we headed to the 'frontroom' for finer jewelry. Several trays of older, very well worked ivory necklaces etc.… Continue

James T. Brookins Tips on Budget Decorating

The auctions are nothing auspicious like Christie's, not even close. Auctions I attend are usually stocked with items from humble estate sales or the liquidation of antique or gift shops. About the only similarity is that the buyers do respectfully bid with number cards. There is a thrill surrounding the presence of an item that just might bring you a windfal… Continue

John On line auctions

Have you ever gone to a flea market or garage sale to find great antiques? Well the new garage sale is eBay and other great on line auctions. You can pick up some real treasures by finding undervalued pieces of art simply by knowing where to look. The best antiques are hiding under obscure names on online auction sites. Try searching for “old glass figurine” or other bland phrases that someone may use to describe an object that they do not fully understand the value. You’ll be surprised what yo… Continue

Kaidafyre On line auctions

On line auctions are taking over the way consumers shop. Sites that offer an online marketplace in which to buy and sell have redefined the way that people shop. Due to the influx of low quality and manmade antiques, people have lost a lot of confidence in these marketplaces as well. Yet, people continually shop there. To this end, it is vitally important for people to research the marketplace as well as the items they are buying before they make a purchase of any kind. With the advent of the we… Continue
