My Pet Peeves in Auction Listings

Surfing online auctions for finds can be fun. I do it all the time, seeking things I want, both for resale and for personal use.

Online auctions are to me the virtual Big Flea Market and as in a real flea market one must wade through tons of miscellany to spot the finds.

It's faster and more convenient to do it online of course and yet, there are some things about auction listings that do annoy me.

Perhaps you too?

I shop mostly for silver…

Antiques and Collectibles in Boston

Boston is a great American city, rich with colonial history and a treasure trove for any collector.  My mother, grandmother and I travel around to auctions and antique shows all over the country and we find so many great things in the Northeast that we actually have to keep a Boston storage unit for the seasons that we work the New England region.  Though there are great collectibles that find their way out of attics and…

AUCTIONS & ESTATE SALE COMPANIES VS SENIOR MOVING TRANSITION CONSULTANTS

Crystal River, Citrus County, Florida, October 10, 2009

Senior moving companies are on the rise. During the past few years, they have popped up all over the map. One can pay just under $1500 for a 3-day course to be certified as a Senior Transition Specialist. Is this really new, or have they rebranded an age old concept of helping our elders? These companies are charging for services that Auction Businesses and Estate Sale Companies alike have been providing to their older clients for… Continue

Auction Buying on a Small Scale for Selling on eBay

Since I retired from teaching, I found that attending auctions, then reselling on eBay is a source of pleasure and supplements my income.

About the only similarity is that the buyers do respectfully bid with number cards. There is a thrill surrounding the presence of an item that just might bring… Continue
