Auction Buying on a Small Scale for Selling on eBay

Since I retired from teaching, I found that attending auctions, then reselling on eBay is a source of pleasure and supplements my income.

The auctions are nothing auspicious like Christie's, not even close. Auctions I attend are usually stocked with items from humble estate sales or the liquidation of antique or gift shops. About the only similarity is that the buyers do respectfully bid with number cards. There is a thrill surrounding the presence of an item that just might bring… Continue

Estate Sales

I have become addicted to estate sales over the past four years as a hobby that is hard to put aside. The thrill of finding something exciting is certainly compelling, and I find that the most appealing items are glass and china items plus old sheet music. Over this time, I have found a number of really nice items including depression glass, a set of Gone With the Wind plates, and an old Mae West piece of sheet music. To really do well in finding things at estate sales requires a lot of… Continue

How I started to earn from rare coin collecting?

Rare coin collecting is indeed a great fun for me. I started to collect coins when I was in school. My uncle who was a passionate rare coin collector gave me a rare silver coin when I visited his home during a summer vacation. I was not aware of the value of that coin at that time. I just kept it in my cupboard and almost forgot it. After a few years, I came to know that one of my close friends was collecting rare coins as a hobby. He was the one who created a real passion in me for collecting… Continue

Holiday Collections

It is the big weekend, the weekend when I bring up the plastic totes from the basement and start unpacking my Christmas things to decorate the house. I always wait until the first full weekend in Dec. or the 7th, which ever comes last.

I'll unpack the dozens of angels, most of which are from the 60's and early 70's, but some older. There are the ornaments that include some that are at least 50 years old and kitchsy ones from around 1973. And I'll carefully unwrap and put out of reach… Continue
