I participated in my first "live" online auction this past Saturday. I had visited the auction in person for previewing items so I knew what I was bidding on. However, I lost out on a lovely iridescent Fenton bowl by $2 because of technical issues! During the prebid stage I put in a bid of $10 but could not get the live bidding app to function in time to up my bid on the Fenton bowl. Spent about 30 min getting the computer running properly and then I had fun. The auction app has audio…Continue

I stopped at a new thrift store near my home the other day and was daunted by the amount of glassware available. I am finding that I need to train my eyes to pick out stuff that might be worth something. I saw a milk glass animal box--a circular one with a bird top--not a hen but maybe a dove. I hadn't seen one like it before; it was only $1 so I bought it. I couldn't see any markings on it--lights not real bright in the shop and the large price sticker covered most of the bottom. Got…Continue

My sister, Beth, and I have rented a small space in GNC Antique and Collectibles in Winchester, VA. We are in the process of setting up our booth. Besides the routine indexing of our items, we are actively researching our finds to discover where and when they were created. And we are learning how to price items in a down market.
