downsizing/aging parents

So, my mother has decided FL is wonderful and, as luck has it, I've ended up with 3 generations worth of treasures.  I'm not complaining so much as I don't know what the HeCk half of this stuff is worth.  My mom is trying to give me a quick "this is from" and "this might be worth something" but I'm finding that while she might know the family history, she has no idea the historical relevance or value of items and tends to lean on emotional value reather than market value.  Needless…

Antique Lamp -- big blue tower -- what is this?

I bought this the other day for $20. via Craigslist.  The seller was decluttering.  He has a small child and believed it created a hazard.  He said that it belonged to his mother, and had been in the family for many years.  But she had passed and he wanted to declutter the house.

It's about 35" tall.  The seller said it was marble, but I've never seen light blue marble.  I thought maybe it was ceramic?  It has intricate carvings all over all with Asian motifs.  I've never seen…
