How Anteekers Become and Antique Dealer

We start out as collectors and then we become obsessed collectors of more than one thing.
Then the day arrives when we decide that we need to narrow down our collectibles.
We want to get our money back..... we want to purge..... we want to collect something else, we are over flowing with great picks that needs new homes.
When I moved back to the Valley of the Sun in 1998, I came with the largest U Haul…

I love face jugs..especially the ones with teeth.  I own several and am always on the hunt for more.  They tend to be quite expensive, so it is a quest for a deal..of course.

One theory is that these jugs were used as grave markers.  The face would be so ugly that it would scare off the devil and your soul would be kept…

Black metal wall sconce - what is it?

I found this wall sconce in a box. What is it exactly? Is it of any value?

I photographed it on a plastic cutting board with 1" grids so it's easy to determine its size.

It's black metal and the whole thing is very ornate, sort of Victorian is my guess. The arm is about 12" long, it has a swivel wall-mounting bracket, and at the end of the arm is an ornate open bowl shaped metal tray or basket that can spin on the arm.

Any ideas as to what this might have…

Am I Becoming a Hoarder?

The other day I was bored and decided to watch a couple of episodes of "Hoarders." I'd heard of this show for years but had never watched it before. The first hoarder they featured was one of those sad cases with waist-high garbage all over their house, and I felt only sadness (and horror). But the second woman was a collector. An antiques dealer. Her home was clean, but it was stacked to the rafters with antiques and collectibles. She was a dedicated Dumpster-diver, garage-saler and…

So many old and unique things to sell!  What a fun, but exhausting job!  It is hard to go through someone else's amassed belongings from a 100 year period and possibly even beyond.  The Ranch is the Skyway Ranch in Colorado and it used to be an old stage coach stop.  Never know what treasures we are going to find and sell!  Visit our website at www.solvendators.com

36" plastic Coca-Cola button sign

Thanks for letting me join your club.

My daughter and I recently went to an auction and bought some Coca-Cola items. One of these was a large 36" Coca-Cola plastic button sign dated 1996. I've been trying to find out its value but all I can find so far is just talk about it being one of only 500 made. If that were true this sign would be quite rare. Is there anyone that can point me in the right direction. THANK YOU
