Moving from A Market Place to Your Own Website

We have been selling vintage items since 2008 and collecting since the 1960s. We started as most people do on eBay or as we call it feeBay. We tried some smaller sites such as eCrater and then moved to Etsy where we had some success but, was to restrictive on format, search and some items…

Space Memorabilia collectables of the 50’s

Just thought I would share this info with everybody. eH

During  the 50’s – 60’s there was a space race to the moon.

Major companies saw this as a good opportunity to commemorate and cash in on the hype. Many major companies started to produce lines of furniture, toys, light fixture, comic book, still & mechanical rocket ship banks, movies, coins, dolls, even some Countries put out postage stamps and the list goes on. Some items you can still buy new today, so nostalgia…

Here at AC Silver we have a large collection of military collectables, ranging from brooches and charms to silver vases and large scale presentation trophies.

Items related to military service are highly collectable for many reasons; one of them simply being that such a high percentage of people have an affinity or connection to the military or to…

How to Clean a Diamond Ring

How to Clean a Diamond Ring at Home

There are many old wives’ tales regarding the best way to make a diamond sparkle, and how to clean rings in particular – which attract lots of dust and debris from being worn on the hand, and are usually worn more often than other items of jewellery. Especially diamond solitaire rings, as these are often worn as engagement rings and are…

These GROUPS are available to become the moderator. I am at a point where I have taken on too many other responsibilities and can't take care of them and will not be able to moderate anymore. It's been a good experience. I was here at the very beginning of this site and have enjoyed learning and sharing. If interested, please contact : C. Dianne Zweig

Antique Carved Japanese Netsukes

Netsuke originated in 17th century Japan as a means for men who wore robes known as kimono, which lacked pockets, to hold their belongings. Containers called "sagemono"—pouches, woven baskets, or beautifully crafted boxes called "inro"—were attached to the robes' sashes with cords and fasteners known as netsuke.…

Rail Road Date Nails

                                                          Haunted railway dated nails

At an automotive swap meet where everybody brings {supposedly} automotive related items for sale but, on occasion, you can find some unusual finds.

On this occasion I met a vendor with a wooden box filled with, well, I don’t know what they were. The vendor spotted me looking at these odd nails and came over and said,” do you know what they are?” Nope. He told me the story of when Great Western…

Antique Article

The reasons why antiques stay alive.

Based on my personal knowledge, experience and opinion.

Antiquities are, items that have survive, the test of time. They were made by someone or something who gave them life. A life to inspire, entertain, decorate, to be used, to be read, to record and define something or someone in life. Not all were made with a value in mind, but history gave it a place and a time. All the persons who bought them,… Continue

My Childrens' Toy Musk Ox was Sold to Another Thrift Store Client

I yesterday went to a thrift store that I used to visit several years ago. The store was very busy with clients on a Sunday and I spent a long time looking thru lots of collectibles.  The only things I found were a very clean used childrens' Musk Ox toy that had a baby Ox on top and a Yamaha Baroque Alto recorder.  The Musk Ox was large and I asked the cashier to hold it for me.  I later walked to the cashier and went to pay for both when I sadly found out that they'd sold my Musk Ox to…

Clarice Cliff

If you like the 1930s you can't go past the beautiful items that were created by Clarice Cliff.  There are some stunning pieces which for that time were advanced and today Clarice Cliff has become very collectable and still in demand some 80 or more years later.
