Platinum Card and Text Alert, via Pawnshop

Linda Ballard, 61, uses the word “love” to describe her banking relationship, lauding the ease of cashing her bimonthly paycheck, the convenience of text alerts about her balance and the features on the platinum card that she was upgraded to in July.

But she is not getting all this from a bank. She is getting this array of services from a pawnshop — part of an industry that has long had a reputation of taking advantage of vulnerable customers handing over prized possessions in… Continue

The Roaring 20's

The roaring 20's. A time of Jazz music, flappers and Art Deco. A time when there began to be a breaking away from tradition in favor of modernity. The automobile, moving picture shows, and radio began to take prominent places in society and people began to favor practicality over frills and fuss. Prohibition was in full swing giving rise to the speakeasies of that era. …

DOES AN "ANTIQUER"" EVER QUIT OR IS THERE A REHAB FOR CRAVING RUST?

The answer is an unequivocal..NOPE they do not. I have tried. No workie. Is there a rehab for junkers?  I doubt it, if there were we would be lifting up every plate and checking out its' underside. We would be sneaking into closets, fumbling for quilts, linens and vintage anything.

If we were put on work…

NEVER TOO OLD TO HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD

Did you ever find an old cast away doll at a garage sale, flea market or estate sale and think, "umm I feel like that sometimes",? I have and of course, I buy the little orphan and bring her to my playhouse.  I have fun fixing her hair, finding new clothes for her freshly washed body and making a new friend.

I…
