tortoise cat replied to Rietta's discussion Unsigned Miriam Haskell? in the group Antique and Vintage Jewelry
"I agree with Carolyn on this. I'm not a MH expert but nothing about these 3 pieces of jewelry remind me of MH. The brooch is probably not very old and appears to have been made with tiny bits of agate or such. It definitely has a hand crafted…"

"When I first looked on the Clarice Cliff website, these picture plates were dated as in the 1930s. I went through many pages of examples and found some very similar but none exactly like this one with the same scene. I didn't see any reference…"

Is this old plate early Meissen

I picked this porcelain plate up in a thrift store several years ago. I knew the back stamp was similar to Meissen but I was comparing it to modern marks. Then I found a website that had the history of Meissen back stamps and I found several early ones that are like this. I had submitted photos to some online china sites but got very unhelpful responses. Some were downright rude. Besides the crossed swords there is the green 33 and a capital I.  What is there but probably won't show in any of…See More

tomsantiquesetcetera replied to tortoise cat's discussion Is this old or a repo? What is is for? in the group Whadja Find? Ask Us! Identification and Evaluation
"TC, It is cast iron. Magnets stick to iron or steel. It is not bronze or brass. The porosity in the bottom is from being "sand cast" which is still performed in modern times. The piece was rusty and then cleaned. They used Naval Jelly and…"

"TC, Had I known the size I wouldn't have said napkin holder. They're about the same size as a square napkin, guessing 7x7x3. Think refrigerator magnets. Surely you have 1 on your refer. If it sticks to your LETTER HOLDER it means yours is…"

I don't love cats. I worship them!!!! LOL. In the old days cats were worshiped as gods and they have not forgotten that and neither have I. I am queen of the pooper scooper, humble servant of the divine cat. Your Maggie is very beautiful.

It is unusual isn't it. So unusual I have not found anyone thats seen anything like it, nor have I been able to find anything like it. I've been searching for almost ten years now.
