"Speaking of spoons, I think those special ones used to hold a sugar cube on top of a glass of absinthe are pretty neat. Water is then poured over the cube and into the glass to dilute the green fairy. …"

"Could we be talking about the same tobacco barn? This one had been pretty nicely fixed up into a 2 story antique mall. Most of one floor was one big open booth loaded with furniture. That open air flea market up the road was not…"
That's so funny about the tobacco barns...I lived about 3 miles from there. Gee, you really do get around! They are in Charlotte Hall (just before). Funny, or not so funny, I used to see the the tobacco baskets setting…"

Good to hear from you. My job takes me all around the four state area, and when ever I pass a yard sale, flea market, or antique shop I'll pull in to see what I can find. I belong to a WWII living history group so…"

Hello again, it's been a while. About getting kids out of the house; I never had kids so I don't have that problem. I do however have 3 ancient dogs, two of which I inherited from my parents. I also have 4 pet rats that I rescued (no, my nose is not pierced and I have no tatoos!!). They do cramp my style a bit because they are so old and need a lot of attention.
I ended up moving back in with my parents when I was in my early 20's and again when I was in my 40's. My parents were getting quite old and needed help taking care of themselves and their house and land. We became best friends and when they died I was so glad I had the chance to get to be with them.
I have developed an interest in English sterling silver mustard and salt spoons (they are really tiny). I can't wait 'till Spring when the flea markets open so I can hunt for some!
I checked out the site you mentioned (www.maam.org). I think I spelled it right...and I saw photos of my favorite WWII Plane, the P-61. When I was a kid I lived near Andrews Air Force Base and used to see so many different planes go over. Of course I didn't know what they all were at the time. But I always liked the plane with the "double tail".
That's so funny about the tobacco barns...I lived about 3 miles from there. Gee, you really do get around! They are in Charlotte Hall (just before). Funny, or not so funny, I used to see the the tobacco baskets setting everywhere there and recently saw one on ebay, or an auction house for sale for $250. Geez...I should have stocked up at maybe $10 a piece!
I inherited a lot of STUFF, and I like to sell it on ebay. I think though, that my favorite part is researching items and identifying them. I'm intriqued with English hallmarks on silver at the moment.
I have a lot of stuff of my fathers that he brought home from the war. I like to scrapbook when I'm not busy getting divorced (almost done!) And I want to put together a book of his mementos. Where do you guys show your stuff?
I think I'll visit the website you have listed.
So nice to hear from you again. Veronica
Oh...what do you do that you travel so much? Yeah...I'm kinda nosy!
What is a WWll live history group? Oh...and Happy New Year! The Harper's Ferry Flea Market is still open in the summer, but I'm embarrased to say that I've never gone. For the last year and a half I've been working on getting divorced, so I tended not to pay attention to it. But I'm looking forward to seeing it this spring.
I'm interested in collecting sterling silver and Sheffield Plate to sell...maybe! I'm thinking about old Victorian frames also.
Hope you are doing well and enjoy the New Year Fun! Veronica
I'm just starting out with going to flea markets. I've been buying on Ebay for the things I like to collect for myself, but that's not always the greatest...I've ended up with items that were not as described and with damage.
I'd like to look for items that I can clean up, research and resell. Our area is such a great area for craft and antiques sales. It sounds like you know your way around the area. One thing I can add is I am familiar with places in Southern MD, if you would ever want to go on a road trip.
Tell me more about what you like to collect and/or sell. I'm thrilled to find someone so close by! Veronica
