I grew up in New England and have fond memories of searching old barns, flea markets, and antique stores as a kid with my Mom. I also come from a family of collectors, past and present.
My main area of collecting is antique diaries, scrapbooks, and autograph books. It all started when I came across one in an antique store and thought it was sad that it wasn't with it's family so I gave it a new home. I am such a mush. I have 36 pieces in my collection. I hope one of these days to start a blog on which to share these pieces that I have with others. They are windows into a different time and a great source for genealogists. I also collect wood block prints, etchings and art. I have also a good sized postcard collection that was inherited. Old letters, menu's, cookbooks, and books.
I have also inherited quite a collection of antique linens, weavings, and embroideries from my Swedish grandmother and my Norwegian godmother. Scandinavian women were amazing artists with a needle.
I really need help in how to preserve what I have and how best to protect while still being able to enjoy and live with the pieces.
