- I was raised in the business and started picking when I was a single parent in college. It grew from there to renting booth space, opening an online shop in 2000 then a store front in 2008. The economy shut down the shop but I am going to continue selling online once I get the new design. I am a freelance journalist for WorthPoint.com and have a Q&A column in Discover Vintage America where I also do appraisals.

Do your holiday shopping at your local antique shops.... Give a Gift with History
Antique store shopping is the ultimate in recycling especially when your local antique shop takes consignments, like I do. Items that would end up in the trash are being recycled... resold. At My Granny's Attic Antiques and Collectibles in Lenexa, Kansas we have a pretty tight quality control system in place so that only items that are clean and in very good condition come in and out. Our prices both online and in the shop are lower than just about any store except for dollar stores.
If furniture is in your future once again look at vintage and antique furniture. These items have already stood the test of time and are likely to last another hundred years or so with proper care.
Your gift receipient will know that you put a lot of thought and consideration into their gift if you shop your local antique shops. You will find unique gifts for those special people in your life.
