How Did You Hear About "I Antique Online"? Please explain how you found us: Fellow Member

Tell us about your interest in antiques, collecting and any antique related websites, blogs, businesses.: My collecting fun has come to a standstill. Nearly two years ago I lost my job as a news journalist.
But, I still dream about hunting for vintage treasures.

Well I went back to my original persona; Calico Kym,

It's me Kymberly.
I have decided to go back to my original avatar and user name since that is how I started out here and Calico Kym is how I am recognized.
Besides I really love the little girl and her baby kitten.
I love and collect all kinds of vintage stuff from aprons and cookbooks to pretty dishes and holiday collectibles.
My main passions are garage and estate sales, hanging out for hours in secondhand shops and used book stores.
But the real true loves in my life are my two girls and my first grandchild Ada Grace and if course my two fur babies, Lucy and Mittens, the house cats who own me.

I tend to have a bad habit of changing things around, like my furniture, although I am getting too old to do much of that so I guess I make up for it by changing my blogs and avatars and such.

The only thing I haven't even attempted to try and change is my collecting habits, they are just as eclectic as the day I first started collecting nearly 30 years ago.

Vintage Advertising

A new antiques, collectibles, and crafts mini-mall just opened in my town last month, so I had to check it out.

I don't normally get into the craft thing but I do like some of the stuff that is made from salvaged pieces from old buildings.

Anyhow, the new mall is called Hill Top Antiques and Crafts and I found one vendor had several Saturday Evening Post magazines from 1943.

I came home with the August issue.

A collection of cookbooks feeds the soul

When the holidays roll around, and it’s time to start digging out all my favorite family recipes, I am always surprised to discover all the cookbooks I have gathered through the years.

What started as a way for me to learn some much-needed kitchen skills boiled down to a collection I didn’t even know I had.

I am pretty sure it started when my husband’s aunt loaned me her “Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book.”

Bits and pieces of my collective life................

gettin' the "junkin" fever

I guess I must have been about ten years old when I first spied a hodge-podge of interesting stuff in the window of a secondhand store in my hometown of Sharpsburg, KY.

This was the first secondhand store I had ever seen and something deep inside my soul told I must go in and look around.
