Kennin replied to Thomas Saletta's discussion 1881 School House Wood Sign in the group Whadja Find Today
"The old saying "it's worth -what someone would pay for it" applies to this sign. Having a photo for provenance and the history will help upsell the sign dramatically. It would do well in a local antiques auction, or antiques mall. (I…"

"Very nice! I'd have happily thrown down a 20 for that. Don't stop going! Not going to the thrift stores, is akin to not playing the lottery- if you don't play, you can't win! I can't NOT drive by a thrift store- that's…"

"I think your pics are upside down.  The top is the round part and the hole, or indent, is for a candle.  The jagged teeth edge are stops for a missing jack.  One simply lifts or lowers it to get the proper or better lighting…"

"Your item was used to raise or lower a lamp. You are missing a few pieces.  You don't need 2 of them, just one.  A missing arm holds the lamp or candle at the upper end and the base of the arm is on the table. The lower end is…"

"Lol Tom I was just using the word as a filler, since I have no idea what it is. It definitely predates the "Da Kine" company. I'd guess it's a early 1900's piece of something, judging by its craftsmanship. And a side note-…"
