Tell us about your interest in antiques, collecting and any antique related websites, blogs, businesses.
Sometimes you just come across something that catches your eye, or is a found treasure you've been looking for quite a long time. That's me in a nutshell. I've always enjoyed tangible assets, and have found they are much more fun to monitor than a spreadsheet or quarterly report. Generally, they are much better performers based on return than as achieved over the last five decades I've been active than most IRA's,Defined benefit plans, Hedge funds, or advice from CFA'sCLU's Brokers, and the like. The real joy is to know and recognize is that we are all but caretakers, and the day comes when as a Griffin who overlooks the village, you relinquish to others who have a like mind.
Coins, currency and collectibles, fine art and musical instruments are my choices of tangible assets, I'll post items on occasion, or fill your want lists if possible. enjoy, after all, that's what it's supposed to be about. ANY item purchased will ship in 72 hours or less, any item may be returned for full refund, any reason.

1892 S Morgan PCGS AU50 - $2500 // 1892 S Morgan ACG AU 55 - $ 5750

Morgan Silver Dollar semi-key to the series, I have two both certified, one Professional Coin Grading Service(PCGS), AU 50. This lot is an "older"  PCGS Green label holder,(1986) which has the reputation of being graded very conservatively. In  current market archive history, these older holders command premiums to currently holdered examples(see archives at Heritage Auctions to affirm) This example has proof like qualities in the denticles, and rim toning of Prussian blue and gold. A resubmit would likely be advantageous and that designation would be so noted.( Early examples did not carry designations to status of proof like status.) PCGS certified examples are renowned for achieving higher auction prices(again, see Heritage Auction Archives,Ebay prior sales, and results as obtained from major auction houses.  $2500

The second example is almost a twin to the PCGS example, it is certified by Accugrade, of Connecticut, the first encapsulation service, and later purchased by Professional Coin Grading Service. This example is certified as AU55, and Is similar to the previous in that the rim toning is very similar(a consequence from being in the older Whitman Holders, that imparted rim toning as a consequence of sulfur oxides leaching to the coins in the Albums.(This phenomenon is often called "Bullet" toning,as it starts at the rim edge, and works inward.) The more time spent in the Albums, the more noticeable.  the toning. $5750

Note : Of the 1,200,000 San Fransisco minted issues, this lot is recognized as a semi-key based on population reports. Most were heavily circulated and saw considerable commercial activity. Additionally, as a consequence of government action, many thousands of this issue were melted for their silver content.

Present PCGS and NGC population reports combined show less than 150 graded above AU50.
