Linen press, yes, early linen closets but could be for anything.
Granny came from Russia and treated herself to a nice US made L. XV style piece.

I found this for sale nearby where I live, and was told it belonged to this guys wife's grandmother and that it came from Russia. He didn't know much more about it other that that. It needs some TLC, one of the door locks is frozen closed, the other doesn't stay closed. The original back on the top part has been removed and has cut out plywood and may have been used as a TV stand. No shelves inside.
