"I agree, snuff box. I think the design is an after market addition.  What you see as initials are the design. The center "Letters" are not letters, one is a buck saw, the other is a broad axe. The woodworker appears to be using an old…"

"It's a snuff box. The image and initials on the front might be personalized to show the occupation of the snuff box owner."

Small Wooden Hinged Box

Wondering if anyone can help me identify what this box was used for or the logo on the front of it?  The logo, appears to be a man doing woodworking with  some letters off to the left, I see maybe three letters, the first one could be an S?  then an E and another S?  The box is 3.25" wide, made of wood with silver embossed ends and a hinged opening.  See More

"In auto body work they're called dollies. Try silversmith dollies."

"Looked up silversmith anvils, and dapping tools. I think the "diamond B" is a handheld anvil, for "backing up" where you're hammering."

"Struggling on the Diamond B.  Its the same on both sides, and if you flip it upside down, the B isnt right, the top of the B is smaller than the bottom, so it would only register one way correctly.  "

"Thanks for the insight!  The hammer, I think may be a planishing tool (or maybe a pitch and punch)?  Looking through images to see if I can find one like it, most have wooden handles with the flat end on one side the balled part on the…"

"Long thing is a silversmith's hammer but has a name of its own. Pointed thing isn't a punch, it's a detachable head for a hammer for tapping tiny designs.  Diamond B is a dye I think.  Turn it over, put it on metal (silver)…"

Metal Bits and Pieces

Baffled on these metal parts.  The brass piece looks like a tool for punching holes, maybe?  The rectangular chrome is rounded on the bottom, like its meant to smooth out something?  Then the long cast iron metal part at the bottom I am totally clueless on?  Maybe a machine part?See More

tomsantiquesetcetera replied to Brent B.'s discussion A couple of old pins which I cant identify... in the group Whadja Find Today
"It might help if you showed pics of back. The round one is called a "butterfly clutch pin". It appeared in the 1950s-60s and is still in use.  Can't see the other pin."
