"Excerpt from Wikipedia: Seal script (Chinese: 篆書; pinyin: zhuànshū) is an ancient style of writing Chinese characters that was common throughout the latter half of the 1st millennium BC. It evolved organically out of the Zhou dynasty script.…"

"The style of clothing is that of a Qing dynasty styled traditional Chinese wedding dress with phoenix crown (鳳冠) headpiece still used in modern Taiwanese weddings. The Top writing is extremely reminiscent of Chinese Small Seal Script, whilst the…"

Japanese? Beautiful lady in a shadow box frame. Can anyone read?

This is my 'find' today.  Is she Japanese?  The lovely young lady is 3 D in a shadow box frame that also can stand.  The way she is framed looks professional to me.  She is dressed in a beautiful headdress with many pearls and rubies.  She has 'rubies' and some 'diamonds' in her hair near her forehead and emeralds at her collar.  Everything else is painted.    There is some writing on both sides of her that might give some answers.  Can anyone read it?  Is she valuable or just a pretty picture?See More

"Cool Tom, I've learnt something new.  The only time I've heard of Germanium in Silver was in Argentium Silver so thought it originated with that process.  I'll have to locate a new method for dating items with Germanium in…"

""Argentium Silver"is a patented process in the UK.  Where did you come up with this metal? I said I have one exactly like the OP and it doesn't show the type of metal.  There are other processes that combine Germanium with…"

"Found this one on eBay with an asking price of US$16 eBay Site Link I have doubts that the design idea of the rings is intended to be a rug beater, though I am familiar with the rug beater, it does not conjure up a very romantic image for a wedding…"

"I have one exactly like yours. The blue metallic label is inside the bell.  It reads: TARNISH-RESISTANT, Clean with soft damp cloth. No silver polish. JAPAN The top is part of the design; she is holding a rug beater over her head.  I…"

"As an alternative idea to the purpose of the small finger holes. Consider these wedding bells, which have similar top designs, representative in this case of two joined wedding rings."

"Just my two cents, but I'm thinking those holes are to be used as Napkin Rings? The metal looks more like pewter also, ? They may be a copy of the Victorian Era Silver plated napkin rings, with a bell as a bonus, or dinner bell/Place holder?"

"You didn't show the sticker. From what you did show, these are silver-plated bells from Japan, factory made in 20th century, probably 1970's/80's or so. The rings on the top are to pick them up, you don't slide them on your…"

"That is an interesting thought.  However, a person would have to have very small  fingers.  Using my ring sizer, and the holes were a ring, it would be a size 3 1/2. The lady is somewhat similar to the ladies on the wedding cups that…"
