I bought 2 lots of vintage jewelry at an estate sale and these 2 brooches were in the lot.1.features a mermaid,and has mother of pearl inlay  (I believe) of leaves and a flower on top.I cannot find a maker's mark on it. Need help Detrmining Authenticity

My husband and I bought 2 of these powder horns in the early 80's. They are both decorated with drawings and words by what appears to be written  and drawn by CSA Soldiers during the Civil War.IT seems that if they aren't authentic,someone went to a lot of trouble to make fakes. I am a retired teacher. I am married almost 61 years to a wonderful man. We have 2 sons,2 daughters-in-law who are actually like the daughters we never had,and 3 beautiful grand-daughters.We enjoy traveling and looking for unusual things.
Tell us about your interest in antiques, collecting and any antique related websites, blogs, businesses.
I enjoy collecting all sorts of things ..from vintage jewelry to thimbles, Westmoreland glass,Blue Ridge Pottery and other items. I also enjoy photography and designing digital greeting cards.

A very big welcome to our terrific site, we hope that you get involved in many of our groups, and post some photos of your collection(s) etc with the information on yourself already on your page. When you get comfortable here please would you add an avatar picture and feel free to customize your profile page, to make it more you (easy templates provided)

Then you can start exploring the site and join as many groups as you like, let us know your interests and we can point you in the right direction as to which groups to join, if you only want specific topics.
