Victorian era French pedestal clock and bronze sculpture circa 1860. The clock was made by Samuel Marti (French) The bronze sculpture is the design of Desire Pierrs Louis Marie (French 1761-1863) It was quite a hunt to date this clock although the clock face itself was the final clue. The company name on it is Shreve & Brown. Both men were silversmiths and jewelers and were in business together between 1857-1863. The Civil War may have ended their endeavors. This piece is very large, it measures 24" wide by 10" deep and 28" tall and if it weren't for the fact that it comes apart in three pieces it would take two strong men to move it. I have seen the sculpture by Desire Marie online although have never seen it mounted on anything. Another rare find to add to my collection.
