Early Coro Western Horse Fur Clip

Outstanding fur clip by Coro, unsigned. It measures 2 1/4" tall and 1" at the widest point.Very dimensional and detailed, it is a book piece. Please read on for more info.

It is in quite good condition for it's age, eighty years give or take. Some of the enamel was lost but it is mostly there.

The eyes, blue and red rhinestones are original but the clear ones are replacements, Stones replaced with rhinestones from the same period, to retain authenticity.

The body of the fur clip is pot metal, enameled, and the prongs are tin.

This is a scarce and desirable piece of vintage costume jewelry, a homage to the Wild West. It is featured on page 55 of Warman's Costume Jewelry Figurals by Kathy Flood, described as unsigned Coro design. A version without the rhinestones was also made, but this one is the nicest by far.
