Re social stuff:
Sooooooo happy to see you back. I prefer if you use Coffee Klatch for schmoozing and leave this group more professional biz like stuff. Members need to be able to see the group operating the way it was intended.

I do need a team of moderators for this group. Love to have you lead the pack with Charles and company. Is it possible to moderate this group focused on identification and evaluation of antiques, collectibles, and for you and others to hop over to Coffee Klatch for social stuff? Hope to hear back who wants to moderate .

Thanks
Dianne

read this about wine and persia - its interesting i think - i guess 60 years ago wine would not have been a problem.

Vicki sending you a hello message -not sure if we can use this for social stuff or if we have to use the coffee site :-)

I have an old Busch  Yeast tin that appeared to hang on the wall and sell small packets of yeast wrapped in cellophane. It is orange and about 3" x 5". It says Anheuser Busch Inc. St. Louis Mo.

What this tin worth?

Hiya Kathy - Go back and few pages and read all the love you have here! How are things going with Mom and Uncle?

Lundy - that piece is "Studio Art Pottery" there are hundreds of artists, and it's nearly impossible to identify any given one. It's best to just look under that title and find similar items, to see what they are selling at.

hi can anyone tell me what kind of plate this is it has an AJ mark on back

Comment by Chris Pollock on May 28, 2014 at 8:52am

Morning Tom, the dark portion is black, the background for the design is a light gray but it's rough and the designs are silver. I'll take some more photos later today of the designs and post.

The decoration around the band looks almost like Farsi, the language of Turkey, Persia, Afganistan, etc.

I can't see all of the designs, but the one that looks like a 6 on its side with 2 diamonds looks like the letter for "qaf".  You might take a look at it.

It's difficult to tell the color. What color is it?

I've posted these photos in other glass groups including Glass Hounds but never tried here. I bought these two sets last year sometime in a little antique store. The owner said they were sold to her by a man who said he bought them in Persia while stationed there when he was in the service. So far they're still unidentified, I've even sent photos to museums. Maybe someone here will recognize them. The first of the two sets are this decanter and five glasses

The other set is this large decanter and four glasses

I have more photos showing the bottoms of both styles of cups if needed.
