Join our discussion on antique and vintage Nativity Sets!

Who has the oldest? Most in their collection? Largest in dimension? Smallest in dimension? Most unqiue in where it was acquired?

Oh, Craig, I loved the NCC site! How fun is that? And of course, I love everything Barb Crews writes! :)

Our
friend, Barb Crews, believes the holidays are the perfect time to
enjoy
collections and share them with family and friends. She reminds us
that
Christmas collectibles come in every price range and every style,
old and
rare or new and handcrafted, in a variety of mediums. Check her

comprehensive list of resources for wreaths, ornaments, dolls, ephemera,

nativities and more at the above link.

MUSEUM DEVOTED TO CHRISTMAS
http://nationalchristmascenter.com

Owner
Jim Morrison unwrapped the National Christmas Center near
Lancaster, PA in 1998 with just three exhibits. Today the museum
overflows with hundreds of
thousands of Christmas items, some more than
200 years old. The 20,000
square feet center features 14 yuletide
fantasy worlds including a life-size
retelling of the The Christmas
Story, Tudor Towne, a whimsical village full of Christmas creatures, the
North Pole with a display of Santa's workshop
and a replica of a 1940’s
– 1950’s-era Woolworth's 5 & 10 Cent Store
(which originated in
Lancaster). The recreation of the F.W. Woolworth store
showcases vintage
Christmas toys and merchandise displayed in a realistic
store setting.
Period photographs of Woolworth's earliest stores provide
detailed and
accurate representations of the architecture, interiors and

merchandising techniques that first drew people to explore Woolworth's

revolutionary marketing concepts.
