I haven't figured out how to post photos into group comments etc using the ipad. I get really bummed out about it because I do a lot of work on my lap on my ipad. I even tried copy & paste and it didn't work. We need a mobile app. :))

Is there a special way to display linens, doilies & tablecloths?

Thanks for the photo tip. I suspect I need to add photos to my profile page first on this site as I cannot simply copy and paste into the comment field directly from my iPad's photostream.

I was very happy to see this group formed. I've rented booths and locking glass cases at an antique mall in Cincinnati since the fall of 2007. Currently, I have 2 booths and 2 cases specializing mainly in kitchenalia, vintage and antique textiles. This is a second career for me and so when I began, I had very rudimentary skills and understanding of display and presentation. Basically, I lined things up on shelves and made sure everything was clean and priced. But, soon thereafter, I began to really examine what made other dealer's displays appeal to me, made notes and took pictures when appropriate. It's really part of the fun of being a dealer. I also agree with other seasoned dealers that shuffling existing inventory around always boosts sales. I try to change things up with seasonal and/or holiday accents throughout the year and keep my merchandise clean. I wonder though, how do I add photos to this combox? Thanks for starting this forum! Susan

Thanks for your input on the booth with the glass in it.  It's a friends booth.  He loves glass, he also has a booth upstairs in the same antique mall.  It is a little more organized.  Believe it or not he does very well with his booths.  I just wanted to get some feed back on it.  As this helps with putting our booths together.  And looking there best.  What I like to do in my booth is have some shelves very organized (pleasing to the eye) and then other shelves filled with items.  Pleasing to draw the shopper in, then have plenty to look at.

For those who might find this of interest, here is a page from my Vintage Touch Store blog that pertains to presentation of your antique space in selling antiques.  I hope you will find it interesting and helpful.  Dressed For Success

On the issue of fragrance, I have asthma . Sometimes just a hint of the wrong fragrance can give me an attack. Be respectful of others and don't use any scent.

I have found be it an area of all of the same type of merchandise or all the same color, it may stop your customer right at that point so they look no further. I'm a believer in scattering. Sure, you can put a display of kitchen utensils in one area but then let some others be placed elsewhere, drawing attention to that space. Sure, linens should have a place but then use them as accents for another display..

Betty, I agree 100% on smells.  A no no for an antique store.

Dianne, yes, I see your point, up lift some of that glassware, so it can show good. Thanks for the idea.

Colin, yes that turquoise flower napkin holder a eye catcher.  I hated to remove it, but it had been up there for months.  I think I have a pretty orange bird figurine in that spot now.

Another thought about the pictures you are sharing , the booth has a lot of nice shelving and cubbies which can be used in interesting ways. As they say..... This booth has good "bones" . Now it could use a makeover.
